Great Pizza Places is an editorial guide to the best pizza in America. Our rankings ignore the things most reviews obsess over — ambiance, decor, price, celebrity sightings — and focus instead on the only thing that should matter: the pizza itself.

Our criteria

Every pie we rank is scored 1–10 on five qualities of the pizza itself:

• Crust — fermentation, structure, char, chew.
• Sauce — tomato quality, balance, seasoning.
• Cheese — quality, melt, distribution.
• Ingredients — sourcing and integrity of toppings.
• Consistency — does the pie taste this good every time?

How rankings change

Rankings update continuously as our editors revisit and add new places. We rank pies nationally, by state, and by city — so you'll always know the best slice on the block.

Found a pizzeria we should try? Submit it on our submission page. We don't accept paid placements, ever.
